ComputerVault Benefits

Deploying a ComputerVault yields important advantages over physical network gear, servers and desktops::

  • Security: Virtual Servers and Desktops are more secure
  • Compliance: ComputerVault deployments comply with all Federal and State Security & Privacy Laws
  • Affordable: A ComputerVault costs less than traditional IT hardware
  • Uptime: Redundancy eliminates single points of failure

Being “Affordable” means that for less than it costs to buy and support physical PC’s, laptops and servers, a ComputerVault delivers exceptional digital security and uptime for corporate data and applications.

A ComputerVault is deployed “On Premises.” Housed in a small cabinet in your place of business, this self-contained unit ensures your corporate data remains on your site.

A ComputerVault with its Software-Defined networking, virtual servers and desktops, isolates corporate data from employee Internet browsing. This prevents exposure of corporate data to ransomware, malware and spyware so mission critical corporate data is not corrupted, destroyed or held for ransom. Since corporate data never leaves your place of business, it can’t get lost or stolen and ensures compliance with federal and state privacy laws.

In addition, the failover of network, firewall and remote access capabilities ensure that you data is secure and accessible at all time from within your premises and securely from outside.

Advans also monitors the hardware, software and network of the ComputerVault 24x7 from its Network Operations Center, (“NOC”). All network traffic is audited and audit logs are available to customer’s staff online. Anomalous activity generates alerts for the support staff and preventative measures can be taken remotely if necessary, as well.

Since Advans owns the technology stack, there is no expensive software to license. By using inexpensive hardware and remote support, a ComputerVault Solution is engineered to be Cost Neutral. This means Advans charges less than what a business would spend on buying and supporting physical servers, desktops and networks that do not have the security and failover capability that ComputerVault offers.

A ComputerVault is a hardware/software bundle designed for Commercially-Available-Off-the-Shelf (“COTS”) hardware that does not have any special cooling or electrical requirements. While the ComputerVault software is sophisticated, it is very “lightweight” and does not require unusual computing resources to run. With inexpensive COTS hardware, a ComputerVault supports 5 to 5000 users.

Being virtual, a ComputerVault is also modular, and additional capacity is added incrementally as needed. Virtualization eliminates the need for migrating applications and data from one physical machine to another physical machine. Advans will migrate your existing data and applications to the ComputerVault for a fixed price. Best of all, there are never any new servers to buy or reboot in the middle of the night. The migration work is performed overnight so you will not have discontinuity in your business operations.

Remote onshore/offshore support is also less expensive than traditional onsite support and site visits are not necessary. Virtualization also brings standardization and greater flexibility to IT infrastructure, as resources can be added, modified and dropped in minutes. Combined with 24x7 monitoring which identifies issues before they become problems, support for virtual desktops and servers is significantly less expensive than maintaining physical ones.

The ComputerVault and its support is licensed to customers with a monthly subscription fee. This is done to shift the CapEx costs of buying hardware and software to an OpEx subscription model. Not only does this eliminate large upfront capital expenditures, but it virtually eliminates variable expenses. Businesses no longer must replace old servers and desktops and they know exactly how much they pay each month for their IT support.

Using virtualization means that all hardware and software computing and network resources have built-in redundancy. All ComputerVault Appliances are deployed in clusters, i.e., two or more appliances connected together and working as one. This is done to load balance the computing requirements and to ensure there are two copies of all data and software. The result is that there is no single point of failure for any hardware or software component. In addition, the failover of network, firewall and remote access capability ensure that you data is secure and accessible at all time from within your premises and securely from outside.

If any one component fails, user connections fail over to the surviving components and the staff continues to work. If a failed hardware or software component can’t be restored, it is simply replaced restoring the redundancy.

Redundancy also means that businesses are no longer solely dependent on backups to restore functionality. Restoring from a backup does incur loss of productivity since there will be downtime, but a significant number of backups fail, i.e., do not result in a successful restoration.

However, to ensure Business Continuity, backups are necessary and with a ComputerVault, customers keep a local copy and send a second copy of their backups to Advans’ datacenter for an automatic offsite backup. Offsite backups are necessary in case your site is destroyed. Additionally, customers using offsite backups to Advans’ datacenter have the option of creating a Disaster Recovery site. With netPulz networking built-in, automated switch-over from your primary place of business to the Advans Cloud is seamless in the event of a disaster and all data and applications are accessible from anywhere so your business keeps running after a disaster.
